Dear European Rowing friends,
having had the chance to host the 2020 European Rowing Under 23 Championships very successfully in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic in September last year, we are not that lucky for the 2021 International Wedau Regatta.
Within the last weeks, we had intense discussions with our local authorities to discuss options to stage this international competition. Unfortunately, we are facing several restrictions covering aspects from traveling over catering to accommodation. As the local infections rates have continuously increased over the last weeks, we do not expect any relaxations from those. Having these restrictions in mind, we cannot guarantee the required and adequate conditions for staging such an international sports event.
Thus, we are very sad to announce that the 2021 International Wedau Regatta is cancelled.
Even though this situation might improve over the next weeks, we decided to ensure a proper lead time prior to the event so that all participants can adjust their planning according to this decision.
We were looking forward to meet all of you in the heart of Europe to see stunning races on our beautiful regatta course but we must admit that the current scenario does not allow doing so. Looking sanguinely into the future, we are more than happy to meet you in two years at the 2023 International Wedau Regatta and to be able to catch up what we missed this year.
Thank you very much & stay healthy!
